DesBarres - Chocolate Bars

DesBarres Chocolate is situated in Uxbridge, ON and is owned by partners Ariane and Erik Hansen, who have been eating, tasting, and working with chocolate for most of their lives. Their chocolate is hand made by Ariane, Erik, and their wonderful team, crafted with ingredients and techniques that won them awards for many of their bars.

Most of their bars are on the darker side, yet really well balanced with a hint of sweetness to bring joy to any chocolate lovers.

Here's a description for all the bars we now carry:

Pefferlaw Creek Maple - This bar pairs the smooth creaminess of Kablon Farms cacao with golden maple sugar from Pefferlaw Creek Farms located just north of DesBarres Chocolate. Contains only maple sugar and cacao,

Orange Spice - This bar was made with a solid chocolate base provided by Kokoa Kamili cacao and added freshly ground nutmeg and orange essence, just at the end.

Raspberry Cordial - This bar is in honour of L. M. Montgomery who penned many of her books just a few kilometers from our little factory. The bar combines the smooth and chocolately richness of 72% Dominicana with tart freeze-dried raspberries and a hint of fresh lemon peel.

Brown Sugar Latte - The chocolate is creamy and smooth with a hint of coffee and cinnamon. The oat and brown sugar contribute a slight caramel note to the sweetness.

Ambaja 72% Dark - The beans for this rich and delicious bar come from the Bejofo Plantation, part of the 2000 acre Akesson’s Estate in northwest Madagascar. This estate, run by Bertil Akesson, and started by his father, has been producing fine cacao and spices for a generation. This bar has a smooth chocolate flavour with immediate aromas of cherry or raspberry and exemplifies the complexity of fine flavoured cacao.

Tupi Dark - The Tupi 72% Dark Chocolate bar uses cacao from Kablon Farms in South Cotabato in the Philippines. With a base note of hazelnut and top note of tropical fruit, this creamy bar almost delivers a PB&J experience.
