"We are all connected. When we care abut bees, we are also caring for each other. We are caring for the whole world." — Sheila Colla
These bee illustrations were inspired by Dr. Sheila Colla, a Canadian conservation scientist who was a pioneer in the study and advocacy of wild bees. She was one of the first researchers to document the decline of bumblebees; and to successfully help to advocate for the Rusty-Patched Bumblebee to be the first listed federally as endangered in both Canada and the United States.
Sheila tragically passed away from Mesothelioma in 2025 at the young age of 43. Her legacy lives on in the countless ways she inspired others to make the world a kinder, better place.
Proceeds from the sale of this card benefit Wildlife Preservation Canada (WPC), an organisation close to Sheila's heart. For more information, please visit wildlifepreservation.ca .
